Jonathan Blackburn

Jonathan joined the leadership team of Sovereign Life Fellowship in September of 2024 and primarily serves as a teaching pastor. Jonathan has been actively involved in church ministry and discipleship for more than 30 years. 

Jonathan is married to Benita who also serves as a teacher for women’s Bible classes at Sovereign Life Fellowship. They have been married 33 years and have two adult children and three grandchildren. 

Jonathan’s heartbeat/desire is to see Christians flourishing in their faith; growing discernibly stronger and stronger in their pursuit of Christlikeness. His passion is to elevate the church’s sense of awe of wonder at God and His Word.

Jonathan enjoys time spent with his wife & family, doing woodworking projects, and gardening. 

Jonathan serves the congregation of Sovereign Life Fellowship in Longview in the following ways:

• Leads the Men’s Ministry.

• Leads the Prayer Ministry which includes the Sunday morning pre-service prayer gathering, the after-service prayer room support, and the mid-week congregational prayer meetings.

• Serves as one of the two primary Bible teachers for the Sunday Adult Focus Class.

• Preaches/teaches as delegated by the Lead pastor.

• Community Group (Home Bible Fellowship) leader/Bible teacher.

• Serves in other capacities as assigned by the Lead and/or Executive Pastors.
